Gemma Forno, more commonly translated as Gemma Oven, is like a small stove assembled in a vertical model. The efficient baking oven heats up quickly to over 200 °C, and on top there is a hot plate where you can heat food or make soot-pot coffee and tea water.
The product is Ecodesign 2022 type-approved, and it boasts an impressive efficiency of over 85 %! The carefully designed firebox allows the wood to burn for a long time but cleanly. When you feed a couple of thicker logs onto the hot embers in the firebox and set the air controls to low, the fire will burn for several hours! Air is directed traditionally from beneath the grate, as well as—in a modern twist—from above the door (glass air wash) and from the back of the firebox into the upper combustion chamber (afterburning of unburned flue gases).
The cladding options are either ceramic enameled shells (Elegance) or soapstone shells (Petra), which are more familiar to Finns. The door and top plate are made of durable cast iron. The base plate is a cast iron base with support legs. The fireplace does not require a non-combustible floor underneath thanks to ventilation. See safety distances. The product is designed to be long-lasting and to withstand heavy use (a continuously heated product).
The oven and hotplate enable cooking, making the product ideal for providing heat and security of supply even during a power outage.
